Overview Text
I first stepped on to a virtual production stage several years ago
Lux Machina invited me to their virtual production demonstration stage in Los Angeles in early 2019. Their pioneering work on season 1 of The Mandalorian, set the standard for Virtual Production in the film industry.
Since then, I have been looking for opportunities to apply this technology to advertising content production.
With the help of Resolution Studios, Planar systems, and members of the Chicago Virtual Production Group, I was able to create a 30 second spot for the fictional coffee brand, Bigfoot Coffee, that demonstrates the unique storytelling capabilities of this workflow.
We filmed the project in 6 hours and we were able to transport our subjects from a city apartment to a glacier in Iceland without leaving the same room.
While not inexpensive, Virtual Production has the distinct advantage of allowing for the creation of more interesting and compelling stories that would otherwise be impossible.
